I have gone for a few missions before the summer missions, this was truly something else. The summer missions are amazing, I truly have no way to describe it. The first day, I came in, and I was very nervous, not recognizing anyone. As the mission went on, we got to my favorite part, feeding the homeless. This is where I got more acquainted with everyone trying to find to get the water and food and give it to people. Everyone just started to work as a team. Of Course, the mass and adoration were amazing as always. The next day was loads more fun, I was basically friends with everyone, and I felt a lot more comfortable. We got to ride the go train to Toronto and everyone loved it. It was awesome, everyone was having fun, it was awesome. We got there then started our mission, we gave food and water to so many people.
Then one of the worst things that can happen on a mission happened, we were running out of food and water. Then to make matters worse it started raining. A few people including myself gave our lunches and snacks away. But we were all having fun, we went to the Eaten Center and had lunch. Then we went back to the church, where we had highs and lows, it was awesome. The next day was even better, we went going to Niagra, the drive was long but there were many interesting conversations. After we got there, I got to help make iced tea. It was so scary at first, I went with one of my friends, so we took iced tea to random people, and I asked if they would like some free iced tea. If they say yes, I have to ask if they have any prayer intensions, they want us to pray for. Asking the first few people is so scary, but after they start taking it from you get less scared. When you start out off every 10 people you ask 1 person will say yes, but when you are a bit more into it you can’t step 5 feet away from the iced tea before someone says yes. There is no feeling like it: the iced tea went so fast it tends to happen when you have the best iced tea in town. After we were done with the iced tea played a lot of frisbee, volleyball and sang songs. I would have thought by carrying heavy stuff and playing sports in the hottest part of the day, but no. When you’re having this much fun you don’t feel a thing. On the way back to a church in Niagara where we were staying at, we got Boba. After we got back, we had mass and adoration, I got to alter serve. The mass was so beautiful, and Fr. Adam’s homily is just the ribbon to tie it off. We had lunch and we went back home. The next day was the barbeque, but it was raining. I was really hoping that the rain would stop soon, and it did. Our mission today was to give out iced tea, free cookies, and most importantly to invite people to a free barbeque. By the time, all the teams had gone out for our missions it was super-hot. Barely any people were out in the heat of the day. So, we decided to go to the mall, to give cookies and invitations. Many people agreed to come, but that’s when things took a turn for the worst. I was grilling the hot dogs but then it started raining horribly. If you stepped into the rain the force of the rain hurt. I was hoping so one would show up, it was a while before a few people showed up. Though there weren’t a lot of people it was still so much fun. The next two days were probably my favorite. We took a long drive all the way to Wasaga, the traffic was bad. When we got there, we stayed with an amazing family. The boys got to camp out in the backyard, and the girls got to sleep on matters inside. We went to bed then the next day we got to go give out iced tea. After that we all got to chill at the beach. The next day was the last day, and it was a beach day. It was a bittersweet day, we all had so much fun. At the same time, we were all going to miss each other. The friendships we formed were so strong, it was an overall amazing week.
